In January we donated all the food that we collected from Halloween through Christmas to a local food pantry. We originally conceived of our food drive for Spirit Week only (the week of Halloween). But it was so successful we decided to extend it through Thanksgiving. That was so successful we kept it going right through Christmas!
In talking with a local food bank volunteer, we discovered that they have plenty of food donations during the holiday season. It seems everyone has this idea at the same time. So we decided to do our delivery AFTER the holiday season, when they may need more supplies.
We were able to make donations to the FISH program at Grace Lutheran Church in La Plata, Maryland. Chuck Bongar is a regular member there, and his wife is involved in the program, so it fit perfectly. Here are some photos of Dave and Tucker delivering the food to Chuck so he can take it to Grace Lutheran.
We plan to do it again in 2015, and maybe before the holiday season!
