OUR STORY

From One Attorney to a Full-Service Firm

  • George Andrews Hangs His Shingle

George Andrews started his practice as a solo attorney in 1964. Waldorf was in the middle of a growth boom, and George was in on the ground floor. He quickly built a reputation for quality and reliability.

    1964
  • Andrews & Schick Is Formed

Bob Schick joined George, and together they focused primarily on real estate transactions—a natural fit given the rapid development happening throughout Charles County at the time. Their partnership laid the groundwork for the full-service firm that would follow.

    1966
  • Chuck Bongar Joins

Chuck Bongar came to the firm after working for a major insurance defense firm and then attending law school. He launched the personal injury and general civil practice, expanding what the firm could offer clients significantly.

    1977
  • Richard “Chip” Starkey Expands the Practice

Richard “Chip” Starkey joined the firm from the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office. He developed the firm’s criminal and bankruptcy practices, with bankruptcy becoming one of the largest practices in Southern Maryland.

    1979
  • Family Law Practice Is Established

Carolyn Woodside joined the firm and created its family law practice, focusing on divorce, child custody, and adoption. She later became a Magistrate for Domestic Relations in the Charles County Court system.

    1985
  • Tucker Clagett Takes Over Litigation

Tucker Clagett joined the firm and took over its litigation, personal injury, and workers’ compensation practices. That same year, George Andrews retired and Chuck Bongar assumed responsibility for the real estate practice.

    1995
  • Dave Gormley Joins the Firm

Dave Gormley initially took over the family law practice after Carolyn Woodside became a Magistrate. He later assumed responsibility for the bankruptcy practice following Chip Starkey’s retirement.

    1998
  • Nashiea Smith Joins the Team

Nashiea Smith joined the firm to practice family law and quickly developed a thriving practice. She later expanded her work into estate planning, helping families prepare for the future.

    2021
  • Kathryn Lawryszek Expands Family Law

Kathryn Lawryszek joined the firm to assist with its growing family law practice. She quickly became a client favorite and established a successful practice of her own.

    2023
  • Continuing to Serve Waldorf

The firm continues to grow as a full-service law firm, assisting individuals and families throughout Waldorf and Southern Maryland with a broad range of legal needs.
