Nasheia Smith is a partner at Andrews, Bongar, and Gormley & Clagett. She focuses her practice on Estate Planning, Probate, and FamilyLaw.
Nasheia wrote the book on wills and estate planning when she wrote our Free Legal Guide to Wills and Estate Planning in Maryland. She also co-wrote our Free Legal Guides to Divorce and Child Custody with Kathryn Lawryszek.
Nasheia is originally from Washington, D.C, and grew up in Clinton, Maryland. She has a lot of family in Prince George’s County. Nasheia has lived in the DC area all of her life.
Nasheia attended Bowie State University for undergraduate college. She then went on to attend the University of Baltimore School of Law. After law school, Nasheia served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Baltimore before deciding to come back home to Prince George’s County.
Before joining our firm, Nasheia served as a family law attorney at a non-profit organization in Upper Marlboro. She assisted over 5,000 clients with their family law legal needs. It was a high pressure and high volume practice, but she loved it because she was truly able to help those who came to her.
During her time working in Upper Marlboro, she developed the skills necessary to establish positive and trusting relationships with clients in order to assess their legal issue, and assist them through their difficult emotional and legal issues.
Nasheia is very active in her church. She strongly believes that service to others is a calling and a command. She spends a lot of time volunteering, giving her energy and time to helping others who need it, particularly women. She has been through a lot in her life, and has learned how to successfully navigate many of the challenges that life hands us. She feels she must share that with others.
Nasheia is the Treasurer of the Charles County Bar Association. She is also a member of the Maryland State Bar Association where she served on the Public Awareness committee. She is also a member of the J Franklyn Bourne Bar Association.
In her free time, she enjoys mentoring, volunteering in her community through her church, and spending time with her family and outdoors.
