Whacky Lawsuit of the Week – 8 Legged Chicken

Why can’t I get hired to do a case like this one? Kentucky Fried Chicken, which is the largest restaurant operator in China, with over 4600 (who knew?) sued several competitors there citing false claims on social media about their chicken.

You might think the claims involved something believable like sanitary conditions or growth hormones or something like that. You would be wrong. These companies were spreading rumors that KFC breeds chicken with 6 wings and 8 legs.

Apparently the Chinese market is more of a “wild west” and companies routinely spread lies about their competition. The government is on a campaign to clean it up, and KFC’s lawsuit is a ground breaking attempt to stop this practice.

Interesting. And funny. For more on this story, see this link to WTOP’s website.
