Car Accident Kills Charlotte Hall Man

A man from Charlotte Hall was killed Saturday in a car accident. The man was apparently passing another vehicle on a double yellow line and lost control.  His car skidded off the road and flipped over and he was ejected.

In a single vehicle accident like this, it is very unlikely that there would be a personal injury case.  It does not appear (at least from the news story) that anyone other than the driver was at fault.  But if he had caused someone else to wreck in this incident, there would have been little argument that he was legally liable for the accident.

Passing on a double yellow line is illegal.  And when you do something on the roads that is illegal, a personal injury attorney will not have much trouble getting a Judge or Jury to believe you are negligent in the accident.  That is one of our best pieces of evidence to show the defendant is negligent in the accident.

Another possible fact this case illustrates is the need to wear your seat belt at all times. This gentleman was ejected from the vehicle.  That is what caused the injuries that took his life.  It seems likely he did not have his seat belt on.  If he had, he would have remained in the car.  He may still have been injured pretty badly, but he would probably be alive.

Please, please drive safely out there.
