Why is Dave Gormley wearing that Maryland tie again? Well apparently it is Maryland Day. On March 25, 1634 the Colony of Maryland was founded as passengers from the Ark & the Dove landed on St. Clement’s Island in present-day St. Mary’s County. After the landing the settlers established a settlement on the mainland at St. Mary’s City. The design of the Maryland Flag, and the colors of Dave Gormley’s tie, are based on the family coat of arms of Lord Baltimore, Cecil Calvert who was granted the charter by King Charles I to establish the colony of Maryland.
